Authorities Impound Four Mototaxis in Puerto Aventuras Crackdown

Puerto Aventuras, Quintana Roo — Municipal and state authorities launched a crackdown on mototaxis in this coastal community Tuesday, impounding four vehicles and issuing fines as they pressed drivers to stay inside their authorized operating zone and off the federal highway.

Nayeli Molina Rosado, the municipal director of transportation, confirmed that officials seized four mototaxis for operating without documents. She said the sweep was designed to drive home to drivers and their leaders that the vehicles are barred from Highway 307 and must instead use internal streets to travel between the Puerto Maya subdivision and the town of Puerto Aventuras.

Beyond the four impounded vehicles, traffic officers issued fines and the state Mobility Institute filed administrative citations.

The operation “was meant to emphasize, with the leaders, that they respect the regulations and the established zone,” Molina said. “That they carry plates, insurance, an up-to-date registration card and a driver’s license.”

Molina said similar operations will continue at random.
