Authorities Deactivate Search Alert for Emma Solís After Cancún Girl Is Located

Cancún, Quintana Roo — Quintana Roo authorities have deactivated the search alert for Emma Solís Aldana, a 3-year-old girl from Cancún whose disappearance alongside her mother on Aug. 15 developed into a child abduction case.

The case drew wide public attention after what initially appeared to be the double disappearance of a mother and daughter was reclassified as a child abduction. The girl’s father, Eliézer Solís Arjona, accused his former partner, Fátima Aldana Gil, of taking the child without his consent and of misleading authorities.

The Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office announced on Facebook that the search file for Emma Solís Aldana had been closed because she had been located, thanking the public for its cooperation and citing the state’s Amber Alert and Alba Protocol mechanisms.

Solís Arjona said in a video recorded during a protest that he had not received official notification but understood that his daughter had been found.

“Although I have not been told exactly where my daughter is, the authorities have already taken down the abduction alerts, and they have been located — Fátima and Emma,” he said. “I repeat, the authorities have not notified me so that I know where they are or what condition they are in.”

Father Waits for Official Word

The father, who has been camped out with the Madres Buscadoras de Quintana Roo collective at kilometer zero of the Hotel Zone, said he resorted to blockades and protests because authorities never helped him see his daughter — not only over the past month, but over the past two years.

“This sit-in was held so that I could find my daughter, because the authorities were not listening to us,” he said. “Two and a half years of obstacles, delayed proceedings, omissions by judges. But if this is the only way they can hear us or turn to look at us, unfortunately that is what we as a society have to do.”

He is now waiting for an official communication from authorities confirming where his daughter is and under what circumstances. The legal dispute is far from settled: the former partners have accused each other, with Solís Arjona facing allegations of violence and Aldana Gil accused of lying and taking the girl without permission.

Rival Collectives and Public Frustration

The case has also fueled confrontations on social media and at protests. The Madres Buscadoras de Quintana Roo backed the father, while the collective Malinches Ingobernables supported Aldana Gil and highlighted the accusations of violence against Solís Arjona. Many residents, meanwhile, have criticized the road blockades and traffic disruptions caused by the demonstrations.
