Cancún woman’s death confirmed as suicide after disappearance

Authorities revealed that videos show the woman entering the green area where she was later found dead

Cancún, Quintana Roo — Investigations into the death of Nataly Montserrat González Barro, whose body was found in a brush area in front of the Jardines del Sur 6 subdivision, have confirmed the cause was suicide, despite unofficial versions suggesting a possible crime.

Amid low credibility and demands for justice from some feminist groups, the family of the 30-year-old veterinarian has already given their statement to the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and did not request further investigation.

According to the proceedings conducted in this controversial case that has gained national attention, Nataly Montserrat’s family accepted the suicide version as the cause of death and even appeared before ministerial authorities, requesting the release of the body on the same Sunday night to begin funeral arrangements.

Investigations confirmed the woman suffered from psychological problems and had an argument with her partner inside their home before leaving alone on the night of December 25. There are even videos in possession of the FGE that show her heading toward the brush area in front of the entrance to the Jardines del Sur 6 subdivision.

Although the family and friends of the deceased have not made any statement, investigations indicated she suffered from mixed personality disorder and, during an emotional crisis, hanged herself from a tree.

The woman’s disappearance was reported from the night of Thursday, December 25, and these events were reported by her family on Saturday, December 27, when the FGE activated a search file under the Alba Protocol to locate her.

According to the report, she was last seen leaving her home in the Jardines del Sur 6 subdivision wearing a nightgown and flip-flops.
