11 Arrested in Tulum, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel Drug Busts

Quintana Roo, Mexico — The State Attorney General's Office (FGE) has announced the arrest of 11 individuals—10 men and one woman—for their alleged involvement in crimes against public health, specifically small-scale drug dealing. The arrests were made during various police operations conducted in the municipalities of Tulum, Playa del Carmen, and Cozumel.

Tulum Operations

In Tulum, four individuals were captured in the act while exchanging bags containing marijuana and crystal meth on Tulum Avenue, between Orion Norte and Beta Norte streets. The detainees were identified as José Eduardo “N”, Marco Antonio “N”, Emanuel “N”, and Jhosef Farid “N”.

In a separate action in the La Veleta neighborhood, Luis Armando “N” was arrested after he was found in possession of several doses of marijuana, crystal meth, and other narcotics known as "tachas."

Drugs and a Firearm Seized in Playa del Carmen

In Playa del Carmen, municipal police officers detained Daniel Alberto “N” and Alexalim “N” in the Villas del Sol subdivision. The individuals were found in possession of methamphetamine, cocaine, ecstasy, cell phones, and an electronic tablet.

In another intervention, this one on Paseo Central Avenue at Xpu Há street, Felipe de Jesús “N” was arrested. Authorities seized several doses of marijuana, a short firearm, 13 useful cartridges, and a van from the suspect.

Three More Arrests in Cozumel

In Cozumel, the detainees Juan Carlos “N”, Brayan Esteban “N”, and Weslyn Alexander “N” were apprehended in the parking lot of a supermarket located on 30th Avenue. They were caught in the act of exchanging bags containing marijuana and crystal meth.

All 11 detainees, along with the seized drugs, vehicles, weapons, and other evidence, were turned over to the Public Prosecutor's Office. The office will determine their legal status in the coming hours based on the investigations into small-scale drug dealing in the northern zone of Quintana Roo.
