Tulum Teen Survives Shooting, Two Arrested

Tulum, Mexico — The Attorney General's Office of Quintana Roo has reported the arrest of two individuals, who have been charged with attempted femicide against a minor.

Municipal authorities confirmed the detention of two subjects related to a brutal armed attack against a 15-year-old girl. The victim managed to flee and survive after having received various gunshot wounds. She had been deprived of her liberty and was forced to consume narcotics during her captivity.

According to preliminary reports from the State Attorney General's Office, the detained men were identified as Jafet Nicolás "N", alias "El Draco", aged 18, and Ausencio "N". Both are accused of the crime of attempted femicide.

The events originated when the victim was forcibly taken to a ranch in the municipality of Tulum, where the minor was forced to ingest alcoholic beverages and narcotics moments before being sexually assaulted.

Subsequently, she was taken to a dirt road near the Pino Suárez landfill. There, "El Draco" fired three shots at her with a Taurus brand 9 mm caliber firearm, hitting her in the abdomen, below the right breast, and in the leg. She was then abandoned at the site.

Fortunately, thanks to medical intervention, the young woman recovered. It was mentioned that her health condition remains stable.

On the other hand, the FGE confirmed the aggressors' link to drug dealing. Furthermore, ballistic comparisons matched the weapon belonging to "El Draco". As a result, both subjects were remanded for the duration of their investigative process, receiving the precautionary measure of mandatory pre-trial detention.
