Cozumel Prison Drug Smuggle Attempt Foiled

Cozumel, Mexico — A man was arrested while attempting to bring narcotics into the Cozumel prison facility. The arrest was made during routine inspection and surveillance operations.

Suspicious Behavior Leads to Arrest

During inspections of individuals entering the Cozumel prison, officers from the Secretary of Citizen Security and a K9 unit, with the support of a dog named Yoker, detected a man exhibiting nervous, unusual, and strange behavior.

The man stated that he was there to visit a friend inside the prison. However, due to his suspicious demeanor, a corresponding search was conducted, during which the canine indicated a positive mark.

The suspect, identified as Fredy Enrique “N”, was taken into custody and turned over to the State Attorney General's Office.

Seized Contraband

Authorities confiscated the following items from the individual:

  • Seven transparent plastic ziploc bags containing solid, transparent fragments with characteristics similar to crystal meth.
  • Three green, transparent plastic ziploc bags containing solid, white fragments with characteristics similar to crack cocaine.
  • One transparent plastic ziploc bag containing solid, white fragments with characteristics similar to cocaine.
