Cancún, Mexico — The tranquility of Puerto Juárez was disrupted on Sunday night when armed individuals opened fire on a seafood restaurant known as "Jarocho," located in Supermanzana 85.
According to witnesses, the aggressors fired multiple shots at the establishment's facade. The restaurant was closed at the time, which prevented any injuries or fatalities.
In response to the shooting, elements of the Municipal Police arrived immediately and proceeded to cordon off the area. Several spent shell casings were located at the site and were secured as part of the investigation.
While there are no detainees at this time, preliminary sources have not ruled out the possibility that this armed attack is linked to a case of extortion, a frequent practice in the area targeting local businesses.
The State Attorney General's Office has opened an investigation file and will be responsible for following up on the case to clarify what occurred and locate those responsible.
This incident follows a robbery that occurred on Sunday afternoon at a Chedraui supermarket on López Portillo Avenue in Cancún.
