Shooting at Cancún cocktail bar leaves spent shell casings

Scene of the shooting at El Águila Real cocktail bar in Cancún's Region 219

Cancún, Quintana Roo — A new act of violence was recorded on Thursday night in Cancún after armed individuals fired shots at the facade of a cocktail bar located in Region 219. The attack occurred on Avenida 103, at the intersection with Calle 56 Poniente, one block from Avenida Talleres, generating alarm among neighbors and passersby.

According to initial reports, unknown men fired a weapon directly at the establishment called “El Águila Real,” before fleeing to an unknown destination.

Spent Shell Casings Found at the Scene

Following the attack, spent shell casings from a handgun were found on the roadway, with at least three counted so far. However, neighbors in the area stated they heard at least eight shots, suggesting that not all ballistic evidence has been located.

Despite the dramatic nature of the attack, authorities preliminarily reported no injuries. Only material damage to the business’s facade was recorded as a result of the gunfire.

No Immediate Police Presence

It is notable that, despite the report being issued approximately 40 minutes prior, no police authority had arrived at the site to cordon off the area or begin corresponding investigations, a situation that caused annoyance among residents.

It is worth remembering that “El Águila Real” has a violent history, as last year at least two people were executed inside the establishment, which keeps neighbors in constant concern.

The information is preliminary. It is expected that in the coming hours authorities will carry out legal procedures and issue an official statement regarding this new armed attack.
