Tulum, Mexico — A new accident occurred on Federal Highway 307, allegedly due to alcohol consumption by the driver. The incident left one person injured, identified as 22-year-old Daniel Alfaro.
The crash took place at kilometer 249 on the Tulum–Playa del Carmen stretch, near the Chemuyil bridge. The young motorcyclist lost control of his vehicle and skidded on the asphalt. He was later assisted by paramedics from Tulum Hospital and personnel from Civil Protection.
Details of the Incident
According to statements from the injured party, he was traveling from Puerto Aventuras to Tulum when his impaired state caused him to lose control of the motorcycle. Although his condition was reported as stable, the accident caused temporary congestion on the highway, requiring intervention from the National Guard’s Highway Division. Authorities coordinated the response and removed the motorcycle from the scene.
Renewed Concerns Over Drunk Driving
This case once again highlights the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol, a recurring issue in the region, particularly on weekends and during nighttime hours. Authorities emphasized that alcohol significantly increases the risk of accidents and reiterated calls for drivers to exercise responsibility, especially on a highway that transports hundreds of tourists and workers daily.
