Acapulco, Guerrero — The Mexican Association of Women Entrepreneurs (AMEXME) Riviera Maya chapter, led by president Valeria Rindertsma, made its presence felt at the 50th edition of the Tianguis Turístico México 2026, advocating for women’s participation in the tourism sector and promoting the Riviera Maya as a top destination.
Held in Acapulco, the event brought together key players from the national and international tourism industry. AMEXME Riviera Maya aimed to forge alliances, strengthen the role of women entrepreneurs in tourism, and contribute to public policy and promotional strategies that keep Playa del Carmen and the Mexican Caribbean competitive in key markets.
The organization’s participation aligned with Playa del Carmen’s strong presence at the event, which included its own stand and a busy business agenda. Rindertsma emphasized that organized private enterprise has much to contribute to tourism development, especially from the local business fabric.
She noted that dialogue with the municipality of Playa del Carmen and the state government opens opportunities for AMEXME members to influence strategic issues, from tourism promotion to initiatives that boost the destination’s competitiveness.
Rindertsma also welcomed the collaboration agreement signed between Playa del Carmen and Mexico City, stating that institutional cooperation generates shared benefits. For AMEXME Riviera Maya, such alliances not only strengthen destination promotion but also open routes for investment, talent mobility, and greater opportunities for tourism-related productive sectors.
She highlighted the strategic connection between Mexico City, one of the country’s main source markets, and Playa del Carmen, one of the most consolidated destinations in the Mexican Caribbean, underscoring the need for top-tier services for travelers.
Beyond the national market, the event’s guest country, Colombia, and the presence of destinations like Costa Rica and other international delegations opened possibilities for exploring alliances with entrepreneurs and tourism actors from other markets. AMEXME Riviera Maya sees these contacts as a window for international collaboration, best-practice exchange, and new economic development opportunities for women entrepreneurs in Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya.
With a vision combining promotion, female leadership, and business diplomacy, AMEXME Riviera Maya’s participation in the Tianguis Turístico 2026 confirmed that the sector is also strengthened through collaboration networks and entrepreneurship.
