American siblings, Marian Allie Bressant and Karim Ricardo Allie Bressant, have been reported missing in Playa del Carmen. The Quintana Roo Attorney General's Office has issued an Amber Alert in an attempt to locate them.

However, the children's mother has claimed that the alert was instigated by the children's father amidst a family dispute. Karinina Cabello, the mother of the children, has stated on Facebook that Marian and Karim are not missing but are currently in her custody.

Cabello alleges that her ex-partner has manipulated the Quintana Roo Attorney General's Office into issuing the Amber Alert by leveraging his financial resources and legal standing. This has sparked controversy as the alert, typically reserved for high-risk situations involving minors, has been activated due to a family disagreement.

This has led to the mobilization of state resources and public personnel, raising questions about the appropriate use of legal and emergency procedures. Cabello likened the situation to a plot from a novel.

Cabello expressed her gratitude for the support she has received during this challenging time. She remains steadfast in her efforts to safeguard her children and ensure their welfare.
