Tulum, September 29. — The organization Alma Animal Tulum carried out a free sterilization campaign over the weekend, surgically intervening with 162 dogs and cats across two days. The initiative aimed to reduce the overpopulation of stray animals and support families with limited resources.
The operation took place in a property located next to Petfriends Tulum, involving veterinary doctors and a team of local volunteers. The sterilizations were performed under controlled conditions, guaranteeing the safety and well-being of the animals treated.
The campaign was made possible through the sponsorship of the Lost Dog Foundation and Patas Help, as well as the support of various local businesses and collectives. These included restaurants, bakeries, trainers, veterinary clinics, and community projects that joined the effort to contribute supplies, food, and logistics.
Alma Animal Tulum highlighted that this collaboration is an example of how the community can organize itself effectively to address a constant problem in the municipality: the uncontrolled growth of the canine and feline population, which impacts both animal welfare and public health.
A Sustained Commitment to Animal Welfare
The association thanked the sponsors, volunteers, and citizens who contributed time, work, and resources to achieve the goal of 162 sterilizations. Furthermore, it reiterated its commitment to continue conducting periodic campaigns, promoting responsible adoption, and fostering awareness about adequate pet ownership.
