Cancún, Quintana Roo — The Attorney General's Office of Quintana Roo has announced the capture of Luis Fernando "N", also known as "el Inge" or "Chimiskuil", identified as the alleged mastermind behind the murder of union leader Mario Machuca. The killing occurred on August 4 in Cancún.
According to the report from the FGE, the motive for the crime is believed to be linked to internal disputes within the Confederación Revolucionaria de Obreros y Campesinos (CROC), where Machuca held a prominent position.
Internal Union Disputes as Motive
Investigations indicate that the attack originated from Luis Fernando's dissatisfaction with his role as a union commissioner. He allegedly was not receiving economic benefits and had been stripped of a piece of land in the Costa Mujeres area. Additionally, he is attributed with personal differences with the victim, whom he accused of favoritism and wanting to perpetuate himself in power.
Machuca's murder took place in the parking lot of an automotive company on Kabah Avenue in Supermanzana 42. There, he was attacked by two armed individuals who shot him at least seven times with a .45 caliber weapon from a motorcycle.
Subsequently, Ángel Jair "N", a 21-year-old originally from Puebla, was identified as one of the material authors of the crime. He is already under criminal proceedings.
Arrest and Investigation
Luis Fernando was located and arrested by ministerial agents on September 19, following surveillance of his personal and work movements. As part of the investigation, a Cherokee truck allegedly used by the assailants to surveil the victim in the days prior to the murder was also located in the state of Colima.
Both Luis Fernando and the previously detained suspects have been placed at the disposal of a control judge. The Attorney General's Office continues to gather evidence and carry out procedures to strengthen the accusation, while complementary investigations surrounding this case, which has shaken unionism in the state, are ongoing.
