More Flights to Mexican Caribbean in 2025

Cancún — The president of the Association of Hotels of Cancún, Puerto Morelos & Isla Mujeres, Rodrigo de la Peña, has ruled out any negative impact on the Mexican Caribbean from the reduction of flights that occurred in the United States. On the contrary, he stated that there will be more routes in the coming months.

"On the contrary, what we are seeing is that there is more equipment, more airplanes, than what we had this year. We had fewer airplanes, which is why there were fewer airplane seats, but all the airplane manufacturers are now fulfilling orders to cover that deficit. Therefore, we expect, and what we have seen from the CPTQ, is that there will be more airplane seats for next year," he stated.

While they do not have the exact figure for how many new aircraft there are and consequently how many more seats, the information is that the number will be much better.

Following the recent holiday bridge, during which they estimated occupancy growth of at least 10%, they are now awaiting the Thanksgiving weekend, next November 27, for which they also expect a 10% increase in occupancy, as it is a date when Americans like to travel.

Furthermore, this date will practically mark the opening of the high season, a winter period in which they also expect significant increases in the number of visits, although many reservations are now made at the last minute.

"Before we had reservations at three, six months; today the reservation is made one month out. There are also last-minute cancellations because the market is very competitive… today people go online and have four comparative websites and book one month, a month and a half in advance, and that is how the market operates today. The truth is that sales have changed," he concluded.
