Cancún — Following the fatal shooting of a ministerial agent in the early hours of Sunday at the Plaza de Toros, the State Attorney General's Office continues its investigation, maintaining a tight lid on the details of the case.
Although the FGE has not yet specified a motive for the crime, witnesses stated it was a direct attack. The victim, an agent of the Ministerial Police, was identified as Altamirano Olarte, who was allegedly on his day off at the time of the attack, according to initial information obtained in the investigation.
Sources close to the case explained that the ministerial agent had spent several hours inside the establishment; upon leaving and heading to his vehicle, he was surprised by two individuals who shot him in the back, leaving him dead. Moments later, the assailants escaped and have not been located to date.
The crime prompted the immediate mobilization of police corporations and investigative personnel; however, they did not achieve their objective: to detain those responsible for the attack. Among the agent's belongings, an official credential was found confirming that he worked for the State Attorney General's Office.
Although the incident was not mentioned during the security conference this Monday, sources within the Attorney General's Office indicate that video footage from both commercial and C5 surveillance cameras is being analyzed, as it is not known whether the aggression occurred due to a fight inside the bar, drug sales, or revenge against the agent.
Meanwhile, the body of Altamirano Olarte will be handed over to his relatives after the corresponding autopsy in the coming hours. Personnel from the Attorney General's Office remain on alert as the investigation advances to determine the reasons for which he was deprived of his life.
