Taxi fares at Cancun Airport, particularly those associated with Mexican airlines, have recently been a point of discussion. Both locals and tourists have expressed concerns about the escalating costs. The high prices have led to dissatisfaction among travelers departing from Cancun International Airport, as taxi drivers have significantly increased their rates. This has prompted visitors to look for more affordable transportation options within the city.

A recent incident involved a Venezuelan family who were visiting and wanted to travel to downtown Cancun. The taxi fare quoted was 80 dollars, leading the family to choose to walk rather than pay the exorbitant fee. This is just one of many instances where tourists have voiced their concerns over the rising taxi fares.

Viva Aerobus, a Mexican airline, offers a taxi service right outside Cancun airport. Their fares have been a point of interest. A one-way trip for up to eight people to downtown Cancun, the Hotel Zone, or Puerto Juarez can cost anywhere from 840 to 1980 pesos. The least expensive fare to Puerto Morelos is 1,035 pesos, while the most costly is 2,530 pesos. Trips ending at hotels in Playa del Carmen, Playacar, Costa Mujeres, or Playa Mujeres range from 1,480 to 3,380 pesos. If you're heading to Puerto Aventuras or Akumal, prices start at 2,185 pesos and can exceed 4,000 pesos. The fare range for Tulum is from 2,530 to 5,290 pesos.

However, Viva Aerobus also provides an alternative transportation service, the Viva Transfer. This service offers routes to the Hotel Zone and Plaza las Americas for a more affordable 350 pesos.
