Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa recently met with representatives from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE). During the meeting, she pushed for her state to be included in the ambitious Energía Mayakán Gas Pipeline project. This initiative aims to double the natural gas transportation capacity to the Yucatan Peninsula.
The pipeline project promises to provide secure and affordable energy to two combined cycle plants that the CFE is developing in the region. These plants are expected to be crucial for the region's economic growth and energy stability.
Governor Lezama Espinosa stressed the importance of including Quintana Roo in the project. She pointed out that access to natural gas is vital for the ongoing development of the state, especially during this period of significant transformation.
She described the meeting as productive, with many potential benefits for Quintana Roo. These include attracting new investments and fostering economic growth. The governor highlighted the positive impact that the pipeline could have on the region.
In addition to the request for inclusion in the project, discussions were held about the necessary stages for its implementation. These include meeting environmental requirements such as an environmental impact statement, an environmental risk study, and the development of an accident prevention program. These measures aim to ensure the project is carried out safely and sustainably.
The inclusion of Quintana Roo in the Energía Mayakán Gas Pipeline project will not only bolster the state's energy infrastructure but also enhance its ability to attract investments and stimulate long-term economic development.
