Deadly Shooting in Playa del Carmen: Victim Dies in Hospital

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A fatal armed attack occurred this morning in the Las Torres area of Playa del Carmen, leaving one man dead after being shot while riding as a passenger in a vehicle. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the victim succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the crime.

Details of the Shooting

The incident took place around 11:00 a.m. near the entrance to the Bali subdivision. According to preliminary reports, the victim was traveling as a front-seat passenger in a car when another vehicle pulled alongside and opened fire, striking him multiple times.

Relatives quickly removed the wounded man from the scene and transported him in a gray Renault Clío to the General Hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life. However, he died minutes after being admitted to the emergency room.

Police Response and Investigation

No other injuries were reported at the scene, but law enforcement agencies from municipal, state, and federal levels deployed to the Las Torres area and the hospital vicinity to conduct investigative procedures. Police officers secured the hospital entrance to facilitate the work of forensic experts.

A woman believed to be a relative of the victim witnessed the attack and suffered a nervous breakdown upon arriving at the hospital. She received medical attention from Red Cross paramedics.

As of now, the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) has not confirmed the motive behind the killing, and no arrests have been made. The crime scene remains cordoned off as authorities gather evidence for the ongoing investigation.
