Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A 25-year-old man died by suicide after hanging himself inside his home in the Villas del Sol neighborhood of Playa del Carmen. The incident was reported around 9:00 p.m. at a residence located at the intersection of Pibi Tropical Street and Pavo Real Avenue in one of the city’s most populous areas.
Partner Discovers the Scene
According to preliminary reports, the victim’s partner returned home to find the young man hanging by the neck in the bathroom. The woman stated that her husband had arrived home from work in a drunken state, as was his habit, and the two exchanged words. Shortly after, she left the house to run errands, which authorities believe was when the man used ropes from a hammock to hang himself.
Upon returning, the woman discovered the scene and, after suffering a nervous breakdown, untied him and called emergency services at 911. Paramedics and officers from Seguridad Ciudadana arrived shortly afterward as first responders and confirmed the man’s death.
Forensic Procedures and Rising Suicide Cases
Forensic personnel later removed the body for the legally required autopsy.
This incident marks the 21st recorded suicide in Playa del Carmen since the beginning of the year.
