Maya Zone Under Attack by Venomous Insects!

Residents of the Maya Zone are dealing with a surge of venomous scorpions and spiders in their homes. This alarming situation follows a period of heavy rain and intense heat in the State. These conditions, known locally as canicula, are known to encourage the proliferation of pests, including disease-carrying mosquitoes.

The canicula period, characterized by a combination of heavy rains and heat, has led to an increase in pests in rural areas. Among these pests are mosquitoes capable of transmitting dengue, a serious health concern. The infestation is disrupting the peace and productivity of local residents.

During the rainy season, scorpions and other arachnids reproduce and leave their burrows due to the intense heat. This has led to an influx of these venomous creatures into homes, causing residents to call for a fumigation campaign from health authorities.

However, experts advise residents to maintain cleanliness in their homes as a preventative measure. They recommend not leaving food in trash bins and storing construction materials, firewood, and tree leaves outside of their yards to deter the pests.
