Quintana Roo has experienced a significant surge in Covid-19 cases in less than a month. The state has reported 19 new infections and four deaths, primarily in the Maya area, which includes Felipe Carrillo Puerto and José María Morelos.

Since the start of the year, the state has recorded a total of 10 Covid-19 related deaths. From the onset of the pandemic until August 2024, Quintana Roo has registered 124,542 positive cases.

At present, eight active cases are under surveillance, with an additional 25 being investigated. The hospital occupancy rate in the Northern Zone stands at 0.2%, while in the Southern Zone, it's at 0.5%.

Despite these relatively low percentages, many individuals displaying symptoms are not seeking medical attention. Instead, they are continuing with their daily routines, thereby increasing the risk of further transmission.
