In an effort to support local agricultural producers in Puerto Morelos, the municipal president, Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz, has facilitated the distribution of corn seeds for self-consumption. This initiative was made possible through the General Directorate of Agricultural and Fisheries Development and the Secretariat of Agricultural, Rural and Fisheries Development (Sedarpe) of Quintana Roo.

The initiative has benefited 100 agricultural producers from the rural area of Leona Vicario and the communities of Delirios and Central Vallarta. Each producer received a share of a ton of corn seeds, with the goal of promoting self-sustenance and improving family nutrition.

Manuel Góngora Sansores, the director of Agricultural Development, stated that as part of the Huertos del Bienestar program, 50 sets of equipment and materials for crop cultivation were also distributed. This was aimed at benefiting women from both the urban area of the municipal capital and the rural area of the Leona Vicario delegation.

Each beneficiary received training on how to set up their garden and achieve agricultural self-sufficiency. The success of this initiative was due to the efforts of the municipal president, in collaboration with the Secretariat of Welfare and the Institute for Social and Solidarity Economy of Quintana Roo.
