Mexican reggaeton is currently enjoying a surge in popularity, but it appears this trend is not universal. A recent concert in Cancun failed to live up to expectations. On July 20th, the "Bellakeo Fest" was held at the Cancun Bullring, featuring performances from well-known artists in the genre, including Yeri Mua, Dani Flow, and El Bogueto. However, social media was soon buzzing with images and videos showing an almost deserted venue.

A Facebook page dedicated to sharing local entertainment and event news posted a series of photos and videos revealing a largely vacant Cancun Bullring. The post described the event as a disappointment, with only 1,000 attendees in a venue that can accommodate 5,000. "The Bellakeo Fest 2024, which was touted as one of Universo Frivana's biggest events, certainly went unnoticed by the locals and left a sour taste due to the lackluster performance of the bellakos," the post read.

The photos and videos of the poorly attended concert quickly went viral, with social media users mocking the reggaeton artists' apparent flop. Comments ranged from criticism of the artists' lyrics to praise for Cancun's discerning music taste. Some of the more humorous remarks included, "I gathered more people the day I fell off my bike," and "Cancun always a step ahead of the rest of Mexico." The overall sentiment was one of disinterest in the popular music genre, with one user even declaring, "There's still hope for humanity."
