Mototaxis Greenlit for Island Operations in Quintana Roo

Modifications to the local Mobility Law have been approved by the State Congress, paving the way for mototaxis to operate on the islands of Quintana Roo. The decision was made with the transportation needs of the citizens in mind, as mototaxis provide a more economical solution in areas with difficult access.

The legislators stressed the need to ensure diverse transportation options throughout the state, in light of the rapidly growing population. This growth could potentially lead to transportation shortages or inequalities in areas where adverse weather conditions limit road access.

The State's Institute of Mobility (Imoveqroo) will be responsible for determining the number of mototaxis that will be allowed to operate. The integration of various modes of public transportation is crucial, as it ensures accessibility and smooth transitions for people's commutes, providing options for intermodality.
