In the early hours of Monday, a 15-year-old was apprehended in the Cielo Nuevo neighborhood of Cancún, following the discovery of a dead body in a car trunk. The incident occurred around 1:40 am when local police officers, during routine patrols, spotted a red Nissan Versa driving the wrong way on Isla Magdalena Avenue, near CBTIS 272 school.
The police stopped the suspicious vehicle and upon approaching, noted that the two occupants appeared nervous when questioned. The officers asked them to open the car's trunk. At this point, the driver fled the scene, escaping towards a nearby area known as superblock 245, leaving the 15-year-old passenger behind.
Upon inspecting the trunk, the officers discovered the dead body of a man, estimated to be between 20 to 30 years old. The man was dressed in a red shirt and black jeans, and was bound. The body showed signs of torture, including burns on the ears and multiple stab wounds on the face, arms, thighs, and knee.
While the driver managed to escape, the 15-year-old was arrested at the scene and handed over to the authorities for further investigation. Forensic experts from the State Attorney General's office were responsible for transporting the unidentified body to the Forensic Medical Services for identification and autopsy.
A firearm, loaded with six rounds, was also found inside the vehicle.
