Tourist Found Dead in Cancún Hotel Pool Area

CANCÚN, Mexico — A female tourist was found deceased this Sunday at the Ocean View hotel, located at kilometer 2.5 of the Hotel Zone, under circumstances that have not yet been clarified.

Initial reports indicated the death may have occurred on the beach, but later accounts confirmed the woman was discovered in the swimming pool area of the resort complex. Private hospital medical personnel responded to the location following the report but were only able to confirm the visitor no longer showed any vital signs.

The incident was recorded shortly before noon when support was requested through the 911 emergency number. Personnel from Civil Protection, agents from the Ministerial Police, and a private funeral home also arrived at the site to handle the corresponding procedures.

The hotel is located just meters from the police checkpoint controlling access to the tourist zone, which prompted a rapid mobilization of authorities. Although the causes of death were not reported, police agents were quickly summoned to take knowledge of the facts.
