Chetumal, Quintana Roo — A 25-year-old man identified as R.E.P.M. was shot in the early hours of Friday in the vicinity of the Comité Proterritorio neighborhood of Chetumal.
The victim reported to authorities that he had been deprived of his liberty and subsequently released, but not before being shot multiple times. Despite his injuries, he managed to reach an Oxxo convenience store where he asked for help by calling 911.
At approximately 2:50 a.m. on Friday, emergency services were alerted that medical and police support was needed on Avenida Maxuxac at Nicolás Bravo. A young man had arrived in a desperate state, knocking on the door for help after having been shot.
The individual recounted to police that hours earlier he had gone to a nearby bar to visit his romantic partner. Upon leaving, he was intercepted by subjects who forcibly placed him in a vehicle, severely beat him, and then shot him. He stated that he has no known enemies and did not know why he was attacked.
The subject was transported to the Chetumal General Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. Meanwhile, ministerial authorities have initiated the corresponding investigation.
