PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mexico — The honorary president of the Playa del Carmen DIF system, Eduardo Asensio, has announced that the project to construct a home for the elderly remains active and could be realized in the year 2026.

He specified that the facility would be located on a plot of land in the Palmas 1 subdivision, which is owned by the state DIF. The plan is to work jointly with the state agency to serve the elderly population of the municipality.

Asensio highlighted that the Playa del Carmen DIF currently provides services to between 500 and 700 senior citizens in both this city and in Puerto Aventuras.

On another matter, he advanced that for the remainder of 2025, the opening of two new Childcare and Development Centers (CADI) is planned: one in the Colosio neighborhood and another in El Petén.
