CANCÚN — The national general secretary of the CROC labor union, Isaías González Cuevas, has announced that he will personally assume control of the union's operations in the municipality of Benito Juárez (Cancún), following the death of its local leader, Mario Machuca Sánchez.

The announcement was made during a press conference held at the union's facilities in Supermanzana 63. González Cuevas stated that he is already reviewing the chapter's finances, labor agreements, and the status of its 198 collective bargaining agreements in Cancún. "We are reviewing that they are being complied with; we are looking at the situation with those contracts, and we have made good progress so far," he said.

González Cuevas clarified that there are no imminent internal elections scheduled to choose a new leader for the Benito Juárez chapter. He explained that Mario Machuca Sánchez had only been appointed as the Cancún leader by the National Council in September of last year for a six-year term.

Given these circumstances, the national leader revealed that he, along with the National Executive Committee, will personally select the individual who will take the reins of the CROC in Cancún. "According to the statutes, I am empowered to appoint delegates and commissioners. Right now, I don't have anyone to appoint yet; give me a chance to get to know the people better. The Executive Committee will decide how the new leadership will be chosen; we will analyze it," González Cuevas stated.

He also announced that the work of the recently formed Labor Party continues uninterrupted in Quintana Roo, with Machuca's daughter serving as its state leader. The national leader was accompanied at the press conference by the state secretary of the CROC, Martín de la Cruz.
