Akumal, Riviera Maya — As part of its commitment to conservation and environmental education, the Eco-Bahía Foundation carried out the activity "Mother Turtle and Her Beach," a playful and formative experience in which 39 children and 6 adults from the Hekab Be Activities and Learning Center in the community of Akumal participated.

The initiative's objective was to foster respect, knowledge, and environmental awareness about sea turtles through dynamics adapted to each age group: storytelling, symbolic play, guided observations of the incubation corral, symbolic beach cleanups, and collective reflections on how to care for the natural environment.

Over the course of two sessions, the children experienced activities that combined play and learning: they represented themselves as marine animals, listened to the story "The Journey of the Sea Turtle," simulated being a "mother turtle for a day" by overcoming obstacles, observed the incubation corral in a guided manner, and performed symbolic beach cleanups, understanding how each human action impacts marine life. Everything concluded with group reflections on the ways they can protect the environment from home.

These activities are part of the Environmental Education program, one of the most relevant strategic pillars of the Eco-Bahía Foundation, which since 1999 has promoted awareness and conservation actions in the Mexican Caribbean.

"Sowing awareness from childhood is key to guaranteeing a sustainable future. Through these experiences, we seek for the new generations to grow up with love and respect for sea turtles and their entire ecosystem," emphasized Luis Verdín, Manager of the Eco-Bahía Foundation.

The session was guided by the Environmental Education team and the Coordination of the Sea Turtle Program of the Foundation, who accompanied the children in active learning close to nature.

With this initiative, the Eco-Bahía Foundation reaffirms its role as a benchmark in conservation and environmental education, aligned with its mission to preserve ecological balance and generate a positive impact on local communities.
