Chetumal — The sports and tourism promotion event "Verano Xul-Ha 2025," held this past weekend in the community of Xul-Ha in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco, exceeded expectations and succeeded in crossing borders by bringing together participants from different regions, including Belize.
Among the stories that defined the competition is that of Abigail Marie Quiroz, a 27-year-old Belizean student of Criminology and Criminalistics at the Wozniak Institute, who, along with her team Bakab Balam, obtained second place in the contest, generating pride and recognition in her country of origin.
Pride for Belize
Abigail's participation was widely celebrated by local, national, and even Belizean media outlets, which highlighted her performance and the importance of this event for strengthening sports and cultural ties between the two nations. Friends, family, and the Belizean community at large have sent her congratulatory messages, viewing her as an example of discipline and perseverance.
General Recognition
The municipal president of Othón P. Blanco, Yensunni Martínez Hernández, emphasized that in the "Verano Xul-Ha 2025," "everyone is a winner, because they demonstrated effort, perseverance, and, above all, healthy sporting camaraderie."
