2 arrested in Cancún for stealing liquor, candy from supermarket

Cancún, Mexico — Officers from the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security and Transit (SMSCyT) detained two men accused of stealing merchandise from a local supermarket. The arrest occurred during routine patrols in the vicinity of Supermanzana 256.

Incident Details

According to authorities, municipal police were approached by an employee of the supermarket, who reported witnessing two individuals removing goods from the store’s loading area without authorization. Officers responded immediately and located the suspects loading items into a gray Volkswagen Jetta.
Upon questioning, the men—identified as Carlos “N,” 22, and Alán “N,” 32—failed to provide documentation proving legal possession of the merchandise. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed:
– 10 bottles of liquor (700 ml each)
– 10 bottles of liquor (950 ml each)
– 14 boxes of mints
– 26 boxes of chewing gum
– One box containing eight 390-gram chocolate packages

Legal Proceedings

The suspects were taken into custody and handed over to the appropriate authorities for further legal action. The case remains under investigation.
