Cancún, Quintana Roo — Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa delivered 357 certificates of participation to real estate agents who completed the 1st Real Estate Professionalization Forum organized by the Secretariat of Sustainable Urban and Territorial Development (SEDETUS) in 2025. The event, held at the Anáhuac Cancún University Sports Auditorium, aimed to enhance the professional standards of the real estate sector in the state.

Combating Corruption Through Professionalization

Governor Lezama urged participants to continue their professional development to ensure honest and ethical service. “This initiative demonstrates our commitment to fighting corruption under a new governance model, one that rejects the dishonest practices that were normalized in previous administrations,” she stated.

The forum, led by SEDETUS Secretary José Alberto Alonso Ovando, brought together state authorities, academic representatives, business chambers, and industry associations. Attendees received five hours of training focused on digital platforms designed to verify property legality in real time, prevent fraud, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Technological Tools for Transparency

Key tools introduced during the event included:

  • The Territorial Management Platform, managed by the State Geographic and Cadastral Institute.
  • The Quintana Roo Real Estate System (SIQROO).
  • The Citizen Portal of the Public Registry of Property and Commerce.
  • The Territorial Logbook developed by SEDETUS.

Governor Lezama emphasized that these measures provide legal certainty, territorial planning, and public trust—essential elements for balanced development in Quintana Roo.

Compliance with State Law

The forum fulfilled Article 16 of Quintana Roo’s Real Estate Services Law, which mandates continuous training for obtaining and renewing real estate licenses. Since 2022, SEDETUS has trained over 4,000 real estate advisors statewide.

The initiative aligns with the New Agreement for Wellbeing and Development of Quintana Roo, particularly its focus on inclusive and sustainable urban growth.

Attendees and Officials

Notable participants included:

  • Mariann González Pliego Castillo, Director General of the Public Registry of Property and Commerce.
  • Ricardo López Rivera, Director General of the State Geographic and Cadastral Institute.
  • Ana Paty Peralta de la Peña, Municipal President of Benito Juárez.
  • Jesús Quirce Andrés, Rector of Anáhuac Cancún University.
  • María de Guadalupe Angélica Chan Flores, representative of the State Judiciary.

The event underscored the government’s dedication to professionalizing strategic sectors while upholding legality and citizen welfare.
