Playa del Carmen, Mexico — Contrary to circulating rumors on social media, two ceiba trees and one cedar tree located on Avenida 10 between 39th and 34th Streets, near Quinta Avenida, were not illegally cut down. Authorities confirmed the trees are being removed for relocation to a reforestation area at the Centro de Control Animal, Asistencia y Zoonosis (CENCAAZ).

Supervised Reforestation Effort

The relocation process is being overseen by Playa del Carmen’s Secretariat of Environment and Climate Change to ensure compliance with technical and environmental protocols. The trees will be transplanted to a designated reforestation zone within the municipal animal control facility.

Officials emphasized that the operation aligns with the city’s commitment to balancing infrastructure development with environmental preservation. The Secretariat verified all measures were followed to minimize ecological impact during the transfer.
