Cancún, Quintana Roo — A violent operation led by the Quintana Roo Attorney General’s Office shook the Superblock 74 neighborhood this Saturday when ministerial agents, backed by National Guard personnel, forcefully raided a bar located at the corner of 20 de Noviembre and Revolución Mexicana streets. The establishment was allegedly linked to small-scale drug trafficking.
The raid, authorized by a control judge, followed an investigation suggesting the business operated as a front for illicit activities. Residents reported the incident after being alarmed by the noise and the mobilization of armed officers, sharing details through WhatsApp groups.
Details of the Operation
Witnesses described how plainclothes agents, their faces covered, used crowbars to break locks and doors to gain entry. Sources close to the investigation indicated the property may have also served as a safe house.
During the inspection, authorities seized multiple items, including a DVR box, remote controls, screens, monitors, and other devices that could be critical to the investigation. It is suspected the site was used to monitor activity in the area or even store digital evidence tied to criminal networks.
The Attorney General’s Office placed seals on the property, marking it under case file number C.A.N8/2025, assigned to the narcotics investigation unit. The business remains secured as authorities continue their inquiries to determine the extent of its involvement in high-impact crimes.
Rising Concerns Over Criminal Activity
This operation occurs amid growing public concern over organized crime infiltrating seemingly legitimate businesses in residential areas. Shaken residents fear other properties in the region may serve similar purposes.
Cancún has experienced a wave of silent violence, with bars, stores, and homes being used as distribution points or surveillance hubs by criminal groups. Authorities have vowed to continue operations aimed at dismantling these networks hidden behind ordinary facades.
