Puerto Morelos, Mexico — Puerto Morelos Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz has signed a collaboration agreement with the company H2O Operación y Mantenimiento SAPI to install water purifiers and dispensers in a local school. The initiative aims to ensure students have access to safe drinking water while promoting sustainable environmental practices.
Strengthening Water Access for Students
During the signing ceremony, Mayor Tziu Muñoz thanked H2O for prioritizing educational institutions in its efforts to improve water quality. She emphasized the importance of partnerships in safeguarding water resources, particularly in a young municipality like Puerto Morelos, where sustainable measures can still be effectively implemented.
“We must guarantee future generations access to quality water for their healthy development,” the mayor stated.
Expanding Environmental Collaborations
The meeting also explored additional joint initiatives between the municipal government and H2O, including beach clean-up campaigns and sea turtle conservation efforts. Mayor Tziu Muñoz expressed optimism that these collaborations would expand in the future with active community participation.
H2O’s Commitment to Quintana Roo
Marco Antonio Hernández García, legal representative of H2O, highlighted the company’s 25 years of experience in water treatment, purification, desalination, and wastewater management. He reaffirmed H2O’s dedication to the community by proposing the installation of water purifiers in a local school.
Susan Hernández, H2O’s Director of Commercial Promotion, announced an upcoming Water Congress on June 6 at the Oasis Palm Hotel. The event will address critical topics such as ocean conservation, reef protection, and the preservation of the Yucatán Peninsula’s aquifer. Additionally, an International Charity Golf Tournament will take place on June 7, with proceeds funding water purifiers for schools.
Three Schools Shortlisted for Initiative
Aimée Regina Rodríguez Vivas, Secretary of Environment, Animal Welfare, and Sustainable Mobility for the Puerto Morelos City Council, confirmed that three schools have been preselected to receive the equipment. The final beneficiary for this initial phase will be determined in the coming days.
