Cancún, Quintana Roo — A mechanic testing a luxury Porsche GT3 worth over 4 million pesos (approximately $200,000) crashed the vehicle on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, along Boulevard Luis Donaldo Colosio near Galenia Hospital in Cancún. The incident drew widespread attention due to the high value of the car and the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Single-Vehicle Crash Leaves Porsche Severely Damaged

According to witnesses, the mechanic was test-driving the Porsche when he lost control, veered off the road, and collided with a pole base in Supermanzana 16. The impact caused significant damage, including the loss of two wheels, suspension failure, and extensive body and interior damage. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Authorities have not yet estimated the total cost of repairs. The mechanic, whose identity has not been disclosed, is reportedly liable for the damages, leading to speculation about his financial burden.

History of Luxury Car Accidents in Cancún

This incident follows a pattern of high-profile crashes involving luxury vehicles in the area. On Sunday, May 11, 2025, a driver of a white Mercedes-Benz C-250 crashed into a sign outside Anáhuac University on the same boulevard. The driver fled the scene before authorities arrived, leaving the vehicle abandoned.

Local officials have repeatedly urged caution when driving, particularly during wet conditions, to prevent similar accidents.

The investigation into the Porsche crash remains ongoing.
