Cancún, Mexico — A total of 80 members of religious organizations and ministers in Cancún were awarded the "Blue Heart" distinction this week for their commitment to inspiring action and preventing human trafficking. The ceremony was led by Municipal President Ana Paty Peralta and took place in the "Salón Presidentes" of the Benito Juárez City Hall.

A Unified Effort Against Human Trafficking

The event was attended by Verónica Lezama Espinosa, honorary president of DIF Quintana Roo, representing Governor Mara Lezama.

"Today, more than ever, we must unite in one mission: to protect human dignity, safeguard our children and adolescents, and prevent human trafficking from continuing to harm families and steal dreams," said Peralta. "The Blue Heart we present to you today—this pin—symbolizes a deep commitment to being part of the solution, to not remain indifferent, to raise our voices, prevent, report, and take action."

The Municipal President emphasized that the training provided by DIF Benito Juárez will enable recipients to identify potential instances of this crime, which tragically enslaves victims, robbing them of their dignity and their right to a full and happy life.

A Call to Action

Peralta stated that the "Blue Heart" distinction also represents a pledge to serve as a voice of awareness, promoters of values, and protectors of families. She urged the representatives of various religious denominations—who received the training for the first time—to share the message within their congregations and communities.

The training program is also extended to businesses, offices, and other organizations.

Recognition for Religious Leaders

As part of the event, Peralta presented certificates to ministers from various religious denominations, including:

  • Assemblies of God
  • Presbyterian Church, A.C. Yellow
  • Pentecostal Church
  • Independent Church
  • Baptist Church
  • Christian Ministry Camino de Santidad y Fe
  • National Council of the Assemblies of God
  • Iglesias Salvos por Gracia en México
  • Christian Church Casa del Cielo
  • Centro de Avivamiento Camino al Cielo

The ceremony underscored the critical role of faith-based organizations in combating human trafficking and fostering community awareness.
