The fifth day of the “Cancún Carnival 2025” was a vibrant celebration. Municipal President, Ana Paty Peralta, joined the festivities along with the Benito Juarez families at the Tajamar boardwalk. The day was filled with dancing, a third city center parade, artistic performances, and free concerts on the central stage, attended by over nine thousand people.

Carlos López Jiménez, the director of the Institute of Culture and the Arts, announced the winners of the carnival groups in the Children’s, Youth, and Free categories, as well as the top three allegorical cars. The enthusiasm, performance, joy, and attitude of all participants truly embodied the spirit of Cancún’s family carnival.

The parade, featuring children, teenagers, and adults, took place on the city’s main avenues. Participants, dressed in feathered, sequined, and colorful outfits, danced along the route, spreading joy with salsa music and Caribbean rhythms. The parade started at Bonampak Avenue, passed through the Bullring, and ended at the Tajamar boardwalk, where an artistic program continued throughout the evening.

On the main stage, seven groups in the free category performed their best dance routines for the qualifying jury. The performances were cheered on by friends, family, and neighbors. To showcase Mexico’s cultural diversity, the kings and queens of the Children’s, Youth, and Sovereign categories presented a regional show, wearing traditional costumes from Yucatán, Jalisco, and Veracruz.

The evening concluded with a performance by the local group “Emerald Band”, followed by a spectacular concert by “Matute”. The crowd was treated to music from the 80s and 90s, including both Spanish hits like “La puerta de Alcalá” and “Devuélveme a mi chica”, and English classics like “Staying Alive” and “Celebration”. The concert lasted for over two hours, featuring a variety of songs that spanned several generations.
