Mysterious Drug Packages Found on Quintana Roo Beach

Yesterday, tourists discovered several suspicious packages on the shores of Telchac Puerto. This unusual find was made in front of a hotel by a group of visitors who noticed blue packages. Upon closer inspection, they found white powder leaking from one of the packages and promptly reported it to the authorities.

Officers from the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), who are responsible for the coastal area, arrived at the scene. After confirming the packages contained narcotics, they called for assistance from the National Defense Secretariat (Defense) and the Attorney General's Office (FGR). The FGR's Criminal Investigation Agency took charge of removing the packages, which held approximately three kilograms of cocaine.

The area was cordoned off to prevent public access, and the hotel's entry was restricted to ensure the safety of the tourists. The drugs were transported to the FGR agency for further investigation.

It's suspected that the packages may have fallen from a ship transporting narcotics via maritime routes. A similar incident occurred in December 2023 when drug packages were found on beaches between Chabihau and San Crisanto. This suggests the potential operation of a drug trafficking group in the region. Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the packages found in Telchac Puerto.
