The Yucatán is gaining attention in the luxury tourism sector with the Destino Mío Mayan Jungle Retreat. After a 100 million peso investment, the retreat has introduced new facilities and infrastructure. Spread across 250 hectares of jungle, it offers guests a peaceful, relaxing experience in harmony with nature, where comfort and gastronomy are key features.
Joaquín Díaz Mena, representing the Governor of Yucatán, and Darío Flota Ocampo, the Secretary of Tourism Promotion, recently joined the owners of Destino Mío Mayan, Soizic Moussié and Gabriel Bejár Berman, to celebrate the retreat's second anniversary. This mystical and adventurous site is located near three cenotes, offering a refreshing experience for visitors.
Soizic Moussié, the owner of Destino Mío in the municipality of Tekit, emphasized her vision to invest in Yucatán and create a space for tourists that promotes rest and escape from daily life. The retreat's location in the Yucatecan jungle allows it to preserve nature, providing a gateway for visitors to disconnect from their routines and the city's hustle and bustle.
In the presence of Tekit's mayor, José Antonio Sosa Hernández, Moussié highlighted that Destino Mío, situated within the Anillo de Cenotes State Geohydrological Reserve, offers a space for personal reconnection. Here, visitors can rejuvenate, drawing energy and peace from nature.
In its first two years, the retreat has received several recognitions, including Aldeas Mayas, Summit 2024, Sustainable Tourism, Jaguar Award, The Best of Yucatán health and wellness category, and Trip Advisor 2024. The retreat offers a range of amenities, including a three-room house, a glamping village with eight tents, six suites, a restaurant serving national and international cuisine, a holistic center, and the Utópika Holistic Oasis, which offers massages, healings, Mayan ceremonies, and cacao ceremonies. The retreat also features areas for weddings, events, and retreats, ecotourism activities, private cenotes, a children's area, adventure tours, green areas, palapas, a pool, a 12-meter high lookout built entirely of wood and bamboo, and 7.5 kilometers of bicycle paths. The retreat also utilizes solar panels and maintains an orchard.
