Around 300 million pesos have been allocated for the enhancement of Cancun's hotel zone in 2025. This funding will be managed by Foatqroo, a trust set up specifically for this purpose.

Jesús Almaguer, president of the Association of Hotels of Cancun, Puerto Morelos, and Isla Mujeres, shared these details during a meeting held in late November. The meeting saw the presentation of a project plan for the hotel zone, outlining both its current needs and future development projects aimed at modernizing its image and services.

The Trust for the Strengthening of Tourist Activity in the State of Quintana Roo (Foatqroo) will execute the executive plan and projects. Foatqroo will take over the responsibilities previously held by the now-defunct Fonatur in managing the Cancun Hotel Zone.

Almaguer expressed satisfaction with the ongoing maintenance and renovation program, as well as the planned projects. Among the initiatives scheduled for next year is the modernization of urban infrastructure and service systems. This includes the cleaning and improvement of the Nichupté Lagoon, a key feature of Cancun's hotel zone.

The trust also has funds set aside for beach care and infrastructure within the Cancun Hotel Zone. Almaguer explained that efforts are being made to improve the destination's image by addressing issues such as abandoned properties, beach maintenance, repaving, lighting, and more.

The trust, which will receive federal, state, and municipal contributions, has an estimated budget of approximately 300 million pesos. The trust committee will determine the priority of the projects. Almaguer expressed optimism about the initiative, expressing confidence that the tourist area will be revitalized and modernized, allowing it to maintain its status as the primary tourist corridor in the state and the country.
