Playa del Carmen, November 23, 2025 — With the attendance of 421 youth from the Class of 2007 and Remisos, the National Military Service Lottery was held this Sunday at the dome of the Gonzalo Guerrero colony, a day that brought together families and authorities in a space oriented toward fulfilling civic duties.
Lottery Development
The City Council, led by Mayor Estefanía Mercado, provided logistical support and institutional accompaniment to guarantee an orderly and clear process. During the lottery, all 421 participants obtained black balls, meaning they will not perform active Military Service; however, all will receive their discharged military service cards as established by law.
Youth Participation Recognized
Municipal authorities highlighted that, although there will be no active service, the youth remain attentive to any institutional requirement. The Director of Government, Erwin Aguilar Díaz, recognized the support of mothers and fathers who attended the event and emphasized the sense of responsibility shown by the participants.
“We thank each of the young people who today fulfill this civic duty, as well as their families for supporting them,” he stated during his intervention.
Authorities Present
The event was led by Second Sergeant of Infantry Alfredo Jiménez Rivera, military inspector; Erwin Fernando Aguilar Díaz, municipal Government Director; and Norma Flores Jiménez, operator of the Municipal Recruitment Board.
With this type of activity, the Playa del Carmen City Council maintains its support for civic education and the strengthening of national values among youth.
