A 12-year-old girl was recently rescued by the Solidaridad Municipal Police after being abandoned in a house in Playa del Carmen's Real Ibiza subdivision. The police were alerted to the situation by a concerned citizen.
The Specialized Group in Attention to Family and Gender Violence (GEAVIG), part of the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security, responded to the call. Upon arrival, they enlisted the help of the Civil Protection and Firefighters to free the young girl, who was vacationing in the area.
The GEAVIG team, made up of lawyers, psychologists, and social workers, reached out to the girl's family. They found that her family lived in another city and the individual responsible for her care would not be returning.
After ensuring her safety, the girl received psychological support from the GEAVIG team. She was later transferred to the Delegation of the Prosecutor's Office for the Protection of Girls, Boys, Adolescents, and the Family of the DIF Solidaridad.
