Mérida, Yucatán — Yucatán will host the second edition of Expo Pro Agro Innovación 2026 from October 9 to 11 at the Yucatán Siglo XXI Convention and Exhibition Center, bringing together agribusiness leaders, investors, academics, and producers from Mexico and abroad.
The event was announced at a press conference at the Yucatán Government Representation Office in Mexico City, led by state officials and organizers.
More than 150 exhibitors and over 4,000 professional buyers from Mexico and other countries are expected to attend. The program includes 25 keynote conferences, one-on-one business meetings, and specialized exhibition spaces designed to foster commercial alliances and knowledge transfer.
A new Latin American Pavilion will debut this year, driven by interest from Panama, Belize, and Guatemala in strengthening trade ties with Yucatán’s agribusiness sector. Buyers from Italy, Denmark, and Russia have also confirmed participation.
The first two days will focus on business activities at the convention center. On October 11, a field day will take place at the Hacienda Henequenera Sotuta de Peón in Tecoh, where two hectares will be used for machinery demonstrations, technological procedures, and field solutions aimed at improving productivity, cost reduction, quality, and profitability.
Yucatán Tourism Promotion Secretary Darío Flota Ocampo said the expo reflects Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena’s vision of driving economic development through innovation, sustainability, and cross-sector collaboration. He noted that Yucatán’s agricultural sector is closely linked to the tourism value chain, supplying hotels, restaurants, and consumer centers in Yucatán and neighboring Quintana Roo.
Flota Ocampo also highlighted that such events boost the meetings industry, which is growing steadily in Yucatán. From January to March 2026, Mérida hosted 53 congresses and conventions, a 29.3% increase compared to the same period last year.
Rural Development Secretary Edgardo Medina Rodríguez said the state is promoting a more productive, sustainable, and technology-driven agricultural sector through coordinated efforts between the state government and private sector to strengthen economic growth and international projection.
