Toros Yucatan, the company that manages several venues including the Monumental de Mérida in Yucatan, Mexico, has announced the cancellation of the traditional 'White Bullfight'. The event, originally scheduled for Sunday, February 16th, has been cancelled along with the rest of the season due to 'force majeure', or unforeseen circumstances.
The cancellation has affected many fans who had already purchased their tickets for the event, which typically attracts a full house. The bullfighting sector as a whole has also been impacted by the news.
The event had an attractive line-up featuring well-known bullfighters such as Andy Cartagena, Juan Pablo Sánchez, Sergio Flores, and Paola San Román. The event was set to feature 4 bulls from Barralva and several others from Ordaz.
The announcement has caused surprise and disappointment, as the Monumental de Mérida is one of the most important venues in Mexico and the region with the largest fan base in the country.
