Yucatán, Mexico — In his First Report, Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena emphasized the investment in clinics, hospitals, equipment, ambulances, and preventive actions during his administration.

The governor detailed that construction of the new O’Horán Hospital is progressing on schedule, which will be the largest in southeastern Mexico and Central America.

During his First Report, Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena stated that health is a fundamental priority of his administration and must be accessible to everyone, which is why historic investments have been made to strengthen infrastructure, equipment, and medical services in Yucatán.

Health Investments and Infrastructure

In this first year of government, 107 million pesos were allocated to improving clinics and health centers, as well as their equipment, in addition to incorporating 20 new ambulances to reinforce emergency care throughout the state.

In terms of prevention, over 53,000 doses of the basic vaccination scheme were administered, and the influenza campaign is advancing, with a goal of 676,000 vaccines.

In the fight against dengue, cases were reduced by 44% compared to 2024, thanks to the renewal of the vehicle fleet with 31 fumigation trucks and the implementation of the “My Home Free of Junk” operation.

The state executive reported that Yucatán now has the first Wolbachia mosquito laboratory, a key scientific tool to curb the transmission of diseases such as dengue.

Hospital Strengthening and New Facilities

In hospital strengthening, 180 million pesos were invested in state-of-the-art medical equipment and 450 million pesos in supplies for the High Specialty Hospital. Additionally, new hospitals are being built in Izamal and Tizimín, the Ticul Hospital project will be resumed, and the Navy Hospital in Progreso will open.

Finally, the Governor highlighted that construction of the new O’Horán Hospital is advancing on schedule, which will be the largest in southeastern Mexico and Central America, with over 660 beds, 80 specialties, and 16 operating rooms, consolidating a public, free, and universal health system.
