Mexico City — Grupo Xcaret has launched a temporary photo exhibition at the Museum of Folk Art (MAP) showcasing award-winning pieces from its annual folk art fair, offering a glimpse into Maya cultural traditions.

The display, which will run for two weeks, features photographs of works from past editions of the Xcaret Mexican Folk Art Fair. Museum director Walther Boelsterly and Xcaret representatives presented the initiative, highlighting its goal to recognize artisans who preserve ancestral techniques passed down through generations.

Each piece represents community stories, origins, and cultural resistance, creating a direct connection between creators and the public. The exhibition also serves as a preview for the third Xcaret Mexican Folk Art Fair, scheduled for September 24-27, 2026 in the Riviera Maya.

During the Mexico City presentation, organizers released a book documenting the 2025 fair edition to increase visibility for artisans’ work. The broader message emphasizes that purchasing folk art directly supports the communities behind it, preserving cultural heritage that might otherwise be lost.
