Cancún Bar Shooting: Woman Killed in Crossfire

Crime scene investigation with forensic personnel examining evidence on the ground outside a business at night

Cancún, Mexico — A woman lost her life during a fight between armed individuals recorded in the early hours of Friday at the "Pájaro Azul" bar, located on Kabah Avenue and Niños Héroes in the city of Cancún. The establishment, which previously operated under the name Babilonia, was the scene of a violent confrontation that resulted in a tragedy.

According to preliminary information, the event occurred around one in the morning, when emergency lines received a report of gunshots inside the venue. Upon arriving at the site, police officers found a woman seriously injured, apparently an employee of the same business. Paramedics confirmed shortly after that she no longer had any vital signs, so her body was transferred to the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO) for the corresponding procedures.

Witnesses stated that two armed men, alleged drug sellers, began a heated argument inside the bar that ended when both drew their weapons and fired several shots. During the confrontation, one of the bullets struck the worker, who is believed to have been a collateral victim of the altercation.

Agents from the Investigative Police of the Homicide Prosecutor's Office arrived later to interview employees and customers, with the goal of obtaining information on the identity and whereabouts of the aggressors. Experts from the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) carried out photographic documentation and the removal of the body.

At the moment, authorities have not released official information regarding the detention of those responsible, but it is expected that in the coming hours the FGE of Quintana Roo will issue a statement with further details about these violent events that once again bring mourning to Cancún.
