Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A woman died after being struck by a vehicle while riding a scooter at a busy intersection in this popular tourist destination.
The fatal collision occurred at the intersection of Boulevard Playa del Carmen and Avenida Chemuyil. Witnesses reported the woman was riding a scooter and attempted to cross the boulevard without yielding to a Chevrolet that had the right of way.
The impact threw the woman several meters before she landed heavily on the pavement. Red Cross paramedics arrived at the scene and confirmed she showed no vital signs.
Municipal traffic officers responded to investigate the incident and determine responsibility.
